Check your architecture first
Open Settings → System → About and inspect System type. A 64-bit Intel or AMD PC uses x64, an ARM-based PC uses ARM64, and a 32-bit Windows system uses x86. The package architecture should match the machine on which you will run it.
A platform label is not a statement of exact minimum system requirements. If a build fails to start, consult its release notes and the upstream issue tracker for compatibility information specific to your Windows version.
Install with MSI
Download the .msi for your architecture, wait for the transfer to finish, open the file and follow the installer steps. Launch PhotoCraft using the installed application entry.
The upstream project states that its official Windows builds are code-signed. The main link here opens Quark Drive; original GitHub files are listed separately as upstream release information. Check the version and provenance of the file you select.
Use the portable ZIP
Download the matching portable.zip, extract the entire archive into a writable folder and open the application from that folder. Keep the accompanying files together and avoid running the executable inside the archive viewer.
The portable format lets you manage the extracted application directory. It does not establish that every preference or application file is stored exclusively in that directory; consult project documentation for actual storage behavior.
Verify the download and start editing
In PowerShell, use Get-FileHash to calculate SHA256 and compare the filename and hash with SHA256SUMS.txt from the same release. If they differ, check whether the download is complete and whether you selected the correct release.
For your first session, use the File menu to open a copy of an image. Add a layer or a color adjustment, save a working document under a new name, then export PNG or JPEG. Learning the difference between saving and exporting helps preserve your original work.

PhotoCraft is early alpha. Back up important documents before editing, and check the project documentation for PSD compatibility and supported features.
