Check the processor architecture
Run uname -m in a terminal. x86_64 generally identifies 64-bit Intel or AMD machines, while aarch64 identifies ARM64 systems. The download list separates these builds; an x86_64 package should not be selected for an ARM device.
The current GitHub release also contains RISC-V packages. Consult the release notes for runtime-library requirements. A package format alone does not establish that every distribution meets the build’s requirements.
Run an AppImage
Download the AppImage for your architecture. In the download directory, add execute permission to that specific file, then launch it. The commands below use the x86_64 release shown on this page; ARM64 users should substitute the filename of the matching build.
AppImage avoids a conventional package installation but can still depend on the host environment. If a library or startup error appears, use the upstream documentation to diagnose the specific failure.
chmod +x ./photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage
./photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.AppImageDEB, RPM and Flatpak
Debian and Ubuntu users can choose a suitable DEB, while Fedora and other RPM-based systems can choose RPM. Prefer your distribution’s package manager for installing local packages so dependency problems are reported explicitly.
The upstream project also publishes Flatpak files. Its installation instructions use flatpak install --user followed by the downloaded file path. Follow the installer’s output when additional runtimes are needed.
Updates, integrity and documents
Tarballs are available for users who manage an extracted application directory. An AppImage .zsync file belongs to the update workflow; it is not the application. For a first download, select the .AppImage itself.
Save open work before updating. Verify package hashes against SHA256SUMS.txt from the same release. After installation, use an image copy to complete one open, edit, save and export cycle before relying on the editor for an important document.
Download packages
PhotoCraft is early alpha. Back up important documents before editing, and check the project documentation for PSD compatibility and supported features.
